The short answer
Good shrub trimming is about timing as much as technique. Spring bloomers like lilac, forsythia and azalea set next year's buds soon after they flower, so they should be pruned right after blooming. Summer bloomers that flower on new wood can be pruned in late winter or early spring.
Formal hedges such as yew, boxwood and arborvitae usually look best with a trim in late spring or early summer and a touch-up later in the season. We shape hedges slightly wider at the base so sunlight reaches the lower branches and they stay full instead of thinning out.
Hedge and shrub work only. Large tree removal is not included.

It depends on the number, height and condition of the hedges and shrubs. As a rough market range, many homeowners in Massachusetts pay somewhere around $150 to $500 for a typical yard, more for tall or long hedges. Text photos for a free estimate with no visit fee.
